I have a personal loan with Nedbank that was van der over for collection to Bankcol International when during a very difficult periode I could not make regular payment. When things started going better I at first made regular payment to Bankcol and later instated a debit order. All want well and the debit order did go off every month. Then in MAY I noticed that the debit order did not go off and I phoned Bankcol to rectify it. Again a month later the debit order did not go off and again the same thing. What I did not know at the time was that Nedbank withdrew the account from Bankcol and that was the reasons why the debit order stippel going through. I was not informed by neither Bankcol nor Nedbank of this. Surely saving my number and e-mail address either one could have contacted me to inform me of what was going on and tell me what was expected of me. Last Friday 20/09 my father paid R1000 into my cheque account to assust me through a particular difficult month and Nedbank withdrew over R900 of this howard my personal loan account. I phoned Bankcol and for the first time I was informed by them I have to call Nedbank directly as the account is no langer with them. This I did and made a new debit order arrangment as well as requested that the money be paid back to me as this was not my fault that things went wrong. I was assured all is well and the new arrangements is in place. I was asked by the consultant if I prefer to keep the account with Nedbank or should they hand it back to Bankcol. I requested that it stays with Nedbank as I believe it would be better to deal with the bank directly instead of a third party. Believing all is sorted and my new debit order arrangment is in place I was not with a huge stock on Wednesday 26/09 When Nedbank withdrew almost my entire saamry towards the loan account leaking me with about R1700 in my cheque account. Again I phoned the legal department and I was assured that since I had a new arrangment in place the money will be paid back to me immediatly. Tuesday 27/09 I stand almost the entire day on the phone trying to confirm that all is now fine and was transferred from one departement to the other and none of them could help me. Frustrated and desperate I started phoning early on 28/09. Again to at first hear all is still fine and a request would be done to urgently transfer the money back to me. The consultant promused me to phone me back to confirm that it is done. No call came and I phone again. This time to be informed that the account is no langer with Nedbank but has been transferred back to Bankcol and Nedbank cannot assust me any further I no have to deal with Bankcol again. I even had one consultant telling me that she will no langer listen to my story over and over and was hung upon by her. So I phoned Bankcol and they confirmed that Nedbank has transferred the account back to them but before they will request the money to be paid back to me I have to pay the amount I 'promised' immediatly, referring to the debit order I requested at Nedbank! Unless I do that they will not proses any request and I am also informed that after doing so it will take 7 working days to get it back. I paid the money to be informed that on Monday 01/10 I have to make another payment and enter into a new payment agreement. Now this is leaving me in the predicament that I cannot pay my rent, I cannot get important cronic medication, not to mention all the other month end payments we all have to make. I cannot tell you how many hours I have sand on the phone since 20/09 to 28/09 in order to rectify a problem that occurred without me being guilty of defaulting on any of my payments intik the debit order was sy oppad by who knows who and nobody at either establishment had the decency to contact me to inform me about what is happening. I remain here with a question: Is Nedbank doing this on purpose so that they can blame me for defaulting and then justify why they took my entire salary? Why could they not contact me at all during the preceding time saving all the technology available to do so instantly? How is it possibly that money can be taken out of your account immediatly but refunding it takes 7 working days? The biggest question I have is why this all was done, taking the account away from Bankcol while I was paying by debit order and not defaulting in any way and getting me into all this trouble? Another note on this is while some of the staff at the call centre are extremely helpfull and well mannered and really try to assist others are handling you as if you are irritating them. I am really disappointed with Nedbank for treating me this why when from my side I made my payments. The only conclusion I can come to here is that they don't care about their clients at all and deliberately hands accounts like mine hence and forth between them and Bankcol in order to cause a default by the client so that they can do to you whatever they please. I would have understood it had I missed any of my payments up to the point where they took the account away from Bankcol, but I certainly don't get this and I certainly don't get why the account was take away from Bankcol when I did not default in any way. Not do I understand why I was not informed by Nedbank that they had done so.
