Power of Attorney is being a ********

My wife has power of attorney over her parents Nedbank account as they both are to old to travel to the bank and wait for hours until being served, they are in their late seventies and not of good health. This was done sometime back and we were told everything was in order and was on the system, however everytime we try and conduct a transaction on their behalf we get questioned to a degree that is insulting, we then get pushed from pillar to post so even just getting a statement is at least an hour ordeal. Today we needed to transfer money from their account to mine as I had electronically settled medicals bills on their behalf, my wife was told that this cannot be done and that my father in law (79 years old, recently sufferred his third stroke) must come in and has to do this at the ATM, no amount of explaining was going to change Nedbanks mind, when my wife pushed the issue she was then told to produce the letter showing she had power of attorney, this after it has been done on the Nedbank system. Recently when drawing money from their account the teller had the cheek to question if we were employed and what did we want the money for. Without going into detail we are both employed in very senior positions and really do not need to ***** my in laws money as they reside with us in our home at no cost. If my father in law was up to it I would move banks tommorow however I do not think he would be able to handle the move as I am sure Nedbank would want him to come into the branch. The attitude and service levles, competency of the staff at this branch is nothing short of disgusting and the manager is never avaiable to assist.

This bank astounds me, seems that the first peron that helped us with the power of attorney did not process the correct document and my wife was only listed to do withdrawals. So we now have to complete the process again and hopefully it will be processed correctly. To actually process the transfer, the original issue, my wife had to drag my father in law down to the branch, he is a vetran of one heart attack, three strokes, suffers from crippling athritis and has a pulmanary restrictive condition that requires him to use oxygen. Arrive at the branch and then get told that the FICA has been outstanding since 2010, strange since it was done in late 2015 when he moved into our home and we processed the power of attorney and there have been a number of transactions processed over the counter and he was never informed, so never mind, send them off home to get the correct documents and then back to the branch, update the FICA and then do the transfer at the ATM with an almost helpful bank employee to assist. At no stage was he offerred a chair to sit on when being served, no he had to stand at the counter. The new power of attorney forms were to be emailed to my wife, pity the bank employee is not able to actually take down an email address correctly and so has just decided to send the forms to me and not to my wife. All round this does not even rate as third rate service, the concern for the elderly and infrim is non existant and the attitute is that NEDBANK is doing us a favour by allowing us to bank with them.
