Poor Service From Nedbank Cresta in finalising a Deceased Estate

We have been having enormous difficulty in getting Mr Govender, the Branch Manager at Nedbank's Cresta branch, to close my late father's account and transfer the funds to the estate's account at Investec bank.

I only became involved on 2 December 2020 when I first wrote to Mr Govender to ask him to speed things up. Up until that point the estate's Administrator had been in contact with Nedbank for months, sometimes on a daily basis.

On 16 October 2020 the estate's Administrator was informed that Nedbank was in possession of all the required documentation.

I received an acknowledgement email from the Branch Manager to my first communication on 2 December. Since then I have received no response to any of my subsequent 8 emails, which have been addressed to both the Branch Manager and the "team leader". Neither has the estate's Administrator made any progress in obtaining resolution during this period.

It is now almost 4 months since Nedbank informed the estate's administrator that it was in possession of all the required documentation.

Nedbank's tardiness in this regard is delaying the estate's administrator in both paying out beneficiaries and finalising the estate.

My advice - close your Nedbank account BEFORE you die.

Reviewer Update
After all these months of pleading with Nedbank, we get a notice that the bank has finally closed the account and will transfer the money.
