Poor service from Nedbank

On 2021-11-16 I received an invitation from my Nedbank personal banker to increase my credit limit. All I had to do was forward 3 months salary advices as proof of employment. I forwarded it on the 2021-11-17.

On 2021-11-18 I received an email from Nedbank requesting me to register on an online APP which allowed me to continue with the application. During the process I was requested to submit my 3 months salary advices once more, which I did.

I am not sure but I was also asked to provide my monthly salary before and after deductions as well as my monthly expenditure, which I did.

On 2021-11-20 I received notice to update the application on the online App. This time I received an offer with a specified limit. I indicated my limit option, I presumed it was determined based on the financial information I provided. I was then informed that the process would take a few days to complete.

During the week of 2021-11-23 to 2021-11-26 I spent at least 5 hours on the phone to the Nedbank Call Centre talking to a Joshua, Herman , Simiso and this afternoon Prisha trying to determine the outcome of my application.

Each time I phoned I had to explain my situation over again and was put on hold for long periods at a time. Each time I was transferred from one person to another because somehow having a personal banker required a special person to assist me with my enquiry and each time this amounted to nothing.

Yesterday afternoon I was informed by Simiso that my application was approved and that the system will be updated today. This afternoon I followed up on my banking App and I was informed by Jolene on APP Chat that my application was declined. According to her records I failed to confirm whether I had an extra monthly income. I never indicated during the application process that I had an extra income. I also got the impression that their was two applications submitted hence all the confusion at the call Centre. This to me is now water under the bridge. What was extremely funny is that with each telephone call I would receive an sms afterwards to rate the person that assisted me.

I would however like to know why I was made an offer on 2021-11-20 if the bank never intended to follow through. Why was I informed on 2021-11- 25 that the increase was approved only to discover on 2021-11-26 that it was actually denied. I also want to know why no one bothered to inform me days ago that it was not approved or that the application lacked information?

Lastly it was never my intention to apply for a limit increase, I responded to an invite. I thought the invite was genuine. I would have never participated had I known that this would be the outcome. But none the less, I have come to the conclusion that the way I have been treated this week, it will be best that I finalize my commitments with Nedbank as speedily as possible and find an alternative bank in the near future.
