Poor Reward Programme - Nedbank Greenbacks
On 19th November I purchased goods from Makro to the value of R 13046.00 and used my American Express Card to make the payment. After 3 attempts using two different machines the payment was rejected. I then used my Mastercard and the payment went through. Note that both the American Express card and the Mastercard is attached to my current account.
After noticing that I had not been credited with any greenbacks I called the Nedback helpdesk Ref ***6 and was told that they could not assis me with reason why my American Express Card did not work and possible cause was likely on Makro side. However I was told that greenbacks would be credited to me for using the Mastercard and that it would take about 5 working days.
I received another call from a consultant on 24th December who tried explaining that as I had spent more than R5000.00 no greenbacks would be credited to me.
I find this explanation really ridiculous where a reward programme would want to cap how much I spend. Had they said to me that the cap is on the amount of greenback I earn I would have accepted the explanation but to advise me that I should not spend more than R5000 using my Mastercard is a poor excuse of a rewards programme.
Also even if they cap expenditure to R5000.00 why was i not at least credited with greenbacks for the amount of R5000.00
I would like Nedbank to kindly explain this poor excuse of a reward programme of theirs. Note I have been a Nedback client for past 20 years
