Poor assessment of my building insurance claim
I had logged a claim with Nedbank for damages to my home (building) as a result of the heavy rainstorm experienced sometime in June 2023.
Nedbank sent their Assessor, who discredited and downplayed most of the damages; his reason was that these were old damages that we were claiming for. I am in shock, as this is a far cry from true. The total cost of the damages incurred as a result of the rainstorm is in excess of R 45 000. Nedbank is only settling, R 5 000.
The June 2023 rainstorm has caused resultant damages, and this needs to be correctly inspected and assessed based on it’s true merit. It is sad, the Nedbank appointed Assessor went through my home as a showed the damages areas to him… but he was clearly not qualified to determine ‘age' of damage.
While I understand that there are some clients’ who will easily make claims against their Insurers, I am most certainly not one of those clients.
I am Widowed and medically boarded due to ill health, and I do not expect to be taken advantage of by my Building Insurer (Nedbank). It indeed reflects poorly on your company.
Kindly review all documents provided, you may arrange for another site inspection with a suitably qualified Assessor, and thereafter revise the settlement offer for my claim.
