PENSIONER - *****ULENT TRANSACTIONS
I am the daughter of Vino Parbhoo, who is 82years and has been a victim of *****. 32 day fixed account was withdrawn with no notice period. As far as we know, nobody can take out money from this type of an account unless we go into the bank. She received a call on the 11Dec24 , at 18.20 ,from a lady claiming to be from Nedbank ***** department advising her of a transaction going off her account for R15999 from Take a lot. She panicked and told the lady to cancel the transaction and cancel the card at the same time. She then received a message on her mobile from nedbank and the lady advised her to press 1 to cancel the card. Little did she know, she pressed 1 to disable sms notifications. She can bearly see , her eyes are very bad ( can provided doctors letters) and she trusts the bank to keep her money safe. I took her into the branch to get her new card on the 14Dec24, only to find her 32 day fixed account had been withdrawn ,her SMS notifications were disabled and her card was cancelled. HOW DOES HER CARD GET CANCELLED if this was not someone from NEDBANK? How did they get her mobile number? This is evident that it could be an inside job targeting elderly people who work hard for their money and TRUST the bank to keep it safe!! Only an employee from Nedbank could see that this account has very little going on and would have been able to get details to call her . This is an 82yr old women who has now lost her hard earned money which she was saving for her grandchildren as well as to help her get through each day as she is a PENSIONER!! This is unacceptable!!!! A police case was opened up . Case number and an affidavit was sent to the ***** department on 14Dec24 and its been a week since lodging this case, we have heard nothing. Nedbank ***** case ref ***6 SAPS case number CAS143-12-2024 Again, she is an elderly lady who needs this money URGENTLY!!! Please can someone assist her as a matter of URGENCY. I can be reached on the mobile number provided as she is too hold to handle this stress! The staff at the branch could not assist me and advised I have to open this case, I understand investigations need to take place but I would appreciate some feedback at least.
