None best interest from Nedbank (Disappointing)

I am very disappointed with Nedbank, this bank only cares about itself and has none interest for its clients. I recently lost my job and have alerted my credit providers that they need to stop debiting my nedbank cheque account until further arrangements are made when i secure a new job. Some of these providers still take it upon themselves to debit this account even though there are no funds in the account with myself being unemployed. As a result i am now sitting with over R1000 charges on my nedbank account due to debits being unsuccessful. I now cannot close this account because of these charges which I need to settle- and I understand that. However I am currently unemployed and have no income to settle these charges and furthermore some credit providers still try with some random debits on this account, even though i have contacted them, which means charges on this account keep recurring.

I have contacted nedbank, been sent to my nearest branch which is clearwater, have been made to call magtape and the list goes on, with no Solution. All i asked was for them to put the account on hold so that debits do not go through on this account to avoid further charges, until i can secure a job and pay the balance of these charges and life goes on. Nedbank has refused to do this and told me that they cant help me and instead i must get these credit providers to stop debiting, the fact that i dont have control of some of these debits, being unemployed, in search of a job - Nedbank could not be bothered.

Now i have an open account, which gets debited anytime, Nedbank is charging me everytime in the process therefore, the balance is increasing with each unsuccessful debit , and my bank cannot assist me to find an applicable way to resolve this issue, accept, either i settle the balance or i will just keep being debited until (maybe I become a ***** to get this money so i can close the account)

I am disgusted and want to seek advise if i cannot take them further for this. I know that in order to get this account closed, i need to settle the balance of these charges(understood) My problem is in the meantime what must happen? i dont have control of the situation and their balance is accumulating with every debit which is currently already over a thousand rand, and how do they expect me to do this without a job an they cannot even assist to minimize the problem.

I will definitely seek advise and take this further.

Unhappy & extremely disappointed.
