No help in closing deceased account

I am trying to close my deceased father's account and I have full power of attorney over his account as well as having all the documents such as the death certificate. The bank insists that I need a letter of executorship, but my father left no estate.<br> <br> In terms of the Administration of Estates Act 66 of 1965, an estate should only be reported to the Master if the deceased left assets and/or a will. If the deceased did not leave any of the above, there are no duty on you to register the estate with the relevant Master / Magistrate.<br> <br> Honestly, a death is difficult enough to deal with without worrying about bank charges on the deceased's account.
