No Customer Service

Is it normal for a bank to and a person over without making contact with the first to try and understand the situation first or to come to some sort of agreement or whatever?

I just phoned by an attorney saying I have been handed over because of money owing which I was not aware of?? Why did nobody from Nedbank phone me first before going this route? I find this very disappointing that Nedbank would waste money like this, it is not wonder that there bank charges are so much!
