Nedbank’s Shocking Incompetence: Insurance Claim Mismanagement at Its Worst
From day one, Nedbank has handled this claim with sheer incompetence. After the heavy rainstorms in January 2025, we had seasoned professionals—who have been assessing ceiling water damage for 30 years—inspect our home and provide a proper report. Then, the bank sent a so-called "assessor" who was completely useless. She didn’t even bother to climb onto the roof or check the ceiling properly. She didn’t take a single relevant photo. How do you assess damage without actually assessing anything?
It was only after we started pushing back and threatening to escalate the matter to the ombudsman that you finally pretended to take action. And what did you do? You sent us the wrong photos—completely unrelated to our claim. After we called you out, you offered a half-baked apology and asked for the same report and invoice you should have had from the start.
We’re done playing games. Every bit of communication and every report will be forwarded to the ombudsman and Hello Peter because this level of incompetence is unacceptable. We demand that you send someone who actually knows what they’re doing to assess our home properly and provide a second opinion.
We have spent thousands keeping our property in top condition. Over the past three months, extreme rainstorms have caused significant water damage—something any basic weather report can confirm. No roof could have prevented the damage we experienced.
In the meantime, we have already fixed everything ourselves—we replaced the ceilings, repainted, and restored our home. We never claimed for the roof, only for the ceiling damage. Yet, from day one, Nedbank has been a disaster, failing to send qualified professionals and making a complete mess of the process.
On top of all this, we reassessed our home and obtained a new valuation. We even requested that Nedbank update our policy accordingly, and that hasn’t even been done yet. This is beyond negligence—it’s outright incompetence. We are demanding, not asking, for a second opinion—this time from someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
