Nedbank - your "protection of pensioners" sucks!
Probably the worst experience from a bank in my life! My mother, 86 years old have the Nedbank mobile banking app installed on her phone and uses it for most of her banking requirements, quite an accomplishment for a lady her age in my opinion. During the week of the 17th - 22nd January 2021 my Mom told me that her banking app requires an upgrade and that she cannot access her funds. The app upgrade required more than 1Gb of data. I drove down to Lephalale from Centurion to help her sort this out. Saturday morning I tried updating the app - all Nedbank said on the app is: "Go to the App Store" or something to that effect. Opening app store - there are (if I remember correctly) 11 different app's from Nedbank. Next step - drive from the farm to Nedbank in Lephalale. A very helpfully lady tried to help me, but in the end resorted to asking a colleague to send us a link. Using this I tried to install the app. This worked. I drove back to the farm and my Mom tried to open the app - not working - the app wanted a password - NOT the PIN, which my Mom did not even remember setting up! Drove back to the bank, here the same lady helped me by using the forgot password functionality. Logged in using password and PIN and guess what - App locked for 24 hours!! An SMS from Nedbank provided a number to call, which I did - [my Mom is hard of hearing, so I tried to do the talking an her behalf - BUT NO WAY - she had to speak herself. Long story short - after speaking to FOUR agents, and having to answer verification questions that honestly I would not be able to answer on my own account we reached the ***** (!!!!) division where a very snotty young man finally unlocked the app [after me losing my cool and shouting at him]. I thought that was the end - last night an extremely distraught Mom phoned me - App locked again - and she needs to pay the workers today. SHAME ON YOU NEDBANK!!! Treating a loyal customer of over 40 years and old aged lady like this. My recommendation to my Mom - I will drive down again the weekend and we move all of her business to FNB.
