Nedbank will not close account

I have been trying for months now to close my cheque account for months now! I don't use them because I am overseas, I don't even have the debit cards, never collected them at the branch! So, I have to pay the bank charges every month, but no-one can assist me to close the accounts- apparently the only way is to sign an Indemnity Form ?! My goodness, can they not take written instruction or verify my identity by phoning? Seems the only time they can phone is to tell me to pay the bank charges every month for an account I am not using!
