nedbank uncooperative amid Covid 19
In light of Covid 19, Department of labor has put in place a special uif payout so that workers can get some wages during lockdown. One of the requirements is for the workers to get a UIF payment advice form stamped by the bank. As an employer I took my workers forms with their ID docs and bank cards to the bank to get this done. My workers are out of town busy finishing work on sites so we can get payment to carry us through the next 21 days and are not available to go to the banks and some have to travel home on Thursday. As we need to submit the forms all signed together I thought it would be a good idea to do this for my workers. It also elliminates overcrowding in the banks from the millions of forms that have to be signed. I explained this all to a manager who apparently escalated this to their head office and the answer is that the workers have to go in themselves. So much for cooperation of banking and business and the call by our President to help each other. It doesnt surprise me though as the banks are the BOSS!!! and their clients come last. The only ones going to benefit are the banks when my workers have to take personal small loans for food etc because they havnt received their UIF as the forms could not be completed. When I asked the manager, Letitia Bhawane Persahd who she had escalated the matter to, she told me she would not divulge that info but would get the said person to call. i wont hold my breath.
