NEDBANK UNAUTHORISED DOUBLE DEBIT & UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT – BREACH OF MANDATE

Nedbank debited my account twice without authorisation and handled the matter unprofessionally.

I have been a good-paying Nedbank client and this incident is extremely disappointing. After missing one month’s payment, Nedbank debited my account on 15th, which aligns with the agreed debit order date. However, without my consent, mandate, or any notification, Nedbank processed a second debit on the 16th — a date that was never agreed to or authorised.

I received NO SMS, NO phone call, and NO prior warning that a second debit would be taken. I did NOT authorise Nedbank to debit my account on the 16th, nor did I consent to multiple debits on different days.

When I contacted Nedbank to query this, I was met with a dismissive and unprofessional attitude from the consultant. This interaction is logged under call reference: ***. As a long-standing, good-paying client, I find this level of service unacceptable.

This conduct constitutes:

A breach of the debit order mandate

A violation of the Code of Banking Practice

Potentially an unauthorised debit transaction

Being in arrears for one month does not give Nedbank the right to arbitrarily change debit dates or remove funds without consent. This has caused unnecessary financial strain and reflects extremely poor customer care.

I formally demand:

Written proof of authorisation for the debit on the 16th

Immediate reversal of the unauthorised debit if no valid mandate exists

A full written explanation

Corrective action regarding the consultant’s conduct

Assurance that no further unauthorised debits will occur
