Nedbank - This is my story

NEDBANK - THIS IS MY STORY

I was an employee of Nedbank for almost 25 years. I resigned and my reasons for resigning was sent to the Banks Ethics committee. Several years down the line and still no response. YET I REMAINED A NEDBANK CLIENT.

I started my own business and opened my business account with Nedbank as all my other accounts were still with Nedbank. With the tough economic climate I went to go see my "Business Banking manager", who at the time was still new, for assistance. Nedbank's response was sorry we cannot assist but thanks you for your monthly business transaction fees. YET I REMAINED A NEDBANK CLIENT.

My wife who was also an employee of Nedbank for 23 years joined me in the business after falling victim to 2 attempted hijackings and 2 accidents on her way to work. All her accounts are also with Nedbank. She had an overdraft account which she had an alternative arrangement in place to pay off as we had very little income coming in. She received a refund from SARS on her tax return which was paid into her current account. Nedbank, without any notification or discussion, took all the money. My in-laws paid money over for food and Nedbank took that too leaving us with nothing to survive on. Nedbank proceeded to close her account and opened another account with higher fees and said she can not have the same account. YET SHE REMAINED A NEDBANK CLIENT.

We received a call from Home Loan Recoveries because we fell behind in our repayments, as we had hardly any income. They state that we have to settle the areas immediately or summons will be issued. The other option would be to follow the NAS process which allows Nedbank to sell our property through their agents. The NAS agent said that we do not have to make any payment while the account is under NAS. We agreed on the NAS process and signed the agreement. Our house was on show only 4 times during the 100 day period with no potential buyers. NAS contacted us at the end of the period and said we can extend the contract. We extended the contract but did not have any potential buyers.

With the grace of God my wife finally got employment after almost a year.

We received a call from Home Loan Recoveries regarding the arrears. We advised them that the account is under the NAS process. No they say it is with them. We did not receive any notification that the extended NAS contract has expired. We were also shocked to find out that we were incorrectly informed not to pay the installment which has put us in a worse situation we were in before. We were informed that we can apply for a re-structure but only after we pay 3 installments. We paid the 3 required installments and app**** for re-structure which was approved. YET WE REMAINED NEDBANK CLIENTS

In Nov last year my check account was de*****ed. Nedbank sends me a mail stating they are not liable. I raised 3 valid points contesting the report which they have not responded to.

I referred the matter to the Banking Ombudsman which they said I must do if I dispute their feedback. I even sent an open letter to the CEO of Nedbank in a desperate plea and received a responce that they will not entertain my plea. 3 months later I received feedback from the Ombudsman that they have ruled in Nedbanks favour even though report Nedbank sent to the Ombudsman had highlighted areas stating that the information may not be shared with me and Nedbank again refer to my Credit card being de*****ed which is incorrect and was one of my issues raised originally. Their report also states that I did not accept their "good will offer" as I wanted a full refund. This is a lie. None of my cooresponce to the bank have I stated I want a full refund. I want my questions answered which to date has not been answered by a Nedbank nor the Ombudsman.

WE WILL CLOSE ALL OIR NEDBANK ACCOUNTS GOING FORWARD. NEDBANK HAS CAUSED US MUCH PAIN AND SUFFERING.
