Nedbank: Theft of Travellers Cheques

On 22.1.15 I returned Euro 350 American Express travellers cheques to Nedbank Festival Mall in Kempton Park. My account was credited with R4489.84 with costs of R85.31. The teller asked me where I had originally bought the cheques and I told her that I could not remember. I was not sure of the date either. All I could say with cer*****y that I had cashed some of the cheques in the series in the USA in 2011.<br> <br> The teller called me some time later to inform me that there was some problem with the cheques if I could not supply proof of purchase. I said that surely they could establish from the serial numbers where and when the cheques had been bought. She called me again yesterday to inform me that my account would be debited and that I should call Tersia Nel at Festival Mall on ***. When I looked at my bank statement this morning I noticed that an amount of R4642.40 had been reversed from my account. I called to demand an explanation. She said she could do nothing to help me and I demanded that my cheques should be returned to me. The teller called me to tell me that I could only get a copy of the cheques. I regard this as theft and told her I shall report it to the police.
