Nedbank Student Loans
I finished paying my student loan off on the 25th of Feb 2020. I went into the bank and advised I would like the loan settled and the account closed and removed from my profile. Nedbank then said I would need to phone in cause they can't help me at the branch. So I phoned in while still at the branch, first attempt was at 10:47am, 45 minutes later and account supposedly closed, I needed to go back in the branch to cancel the stop order because we can't do that on the phone.
I cancelled the stop order and assumed that was the end of the situation. Not a single email or phone call, no one saying congratulations for crippling your future with debt in order to pay your studies all to benefit us at Nedbank. No it is now 23 of April and the account is still on my profile, they took my positive balance for themselves and charged me a service fee on 17th April on that account.
I have been in contact with Nedbank complaints department, contact center as well as a number of Student Loan administrators since mid march, and still to this day the account remains on my profile.
Through this process I still gave them the benefit of the doubt but I have decided to close all my nedbank accounts and related products and move to another bank despite an almost 10 year relationship. Why? If this is how they handle a relatively simple student loan, imagine how they would handle car loans, personal loans, house loans, business loans. There must be a bank out there that could simply put in minimal effort to at;least congratulate a customer.
