Nedbank Society Account unfair practice

We have a society account with Nedbank. We went in to go and change the signatories and remove some members however we were shocked to hear that the account is blocked and we can not do anything until FICA update status is removed. We also need to use the money in the account urgently. I understand the updating process that it needs to happen however what is frustrating to us is that this FICA update was never communicated to us. Had it been communicated we would have fixed it long ago. Why do we find out now when we are supposed to use the money that we need update the account. This is an unfair practice as we are not privy to when should we update, only the bank knows when the status is placed. We were not informed of this change in our account.
