Nedbank seems desperate to get rid of their clients
In January of 2024 I saw a notification on the Nedbank app to update my details or my account would be locked.
I tried to do it online but the app did not work. I phoned Nedbank and they assisted in updating my details. The call center agent assured me everything was ok.
On the 27th of March I attempted to do a transaction and was unable to. I phoned the number provided and was assisted. The agent said that for some reason their system had locked my account because it wasn't accepting my ID number. She said she would send an email to get my account reinstated, and it could take up to 3 days. Note: This is PURELY due to some ******* system error on Nedbank's side. 100% Nedbank's fault for accidentally locking my account. Not even an email, a call, nothing. Just a block.
6 Days later, and I still do not have access to my account. I have payments I have to make. I need to buy groceries. I need to fill up my car. I need to pay my workers. I haven't been able to for almost a week! My credit cards don't even work.
I attempted to phone the call center this morning multiple times.
The first few attempts I'll give the call center people the benefit of doubt and assume the volume on their phones must have been turned off since I kept getting a reply "Due to no response I will be forced to terminate this call".
When I eventually get through to someone, they tell me they have escalated the situation and someone will get back to me shortly. 3 Hours later and no-one has gotten back to me.
When I phone again, explaining the situation, the women asks me to please hold, then hangs up the phone after 7 minutes.
And this is for a client that's used Nedbank as my only bank for 10 years with a R1.7mil home loan, credit cards etc.
In what world do you think you can treat clients like this?
