Nedbank, resolve this immediately pls
I have had a very huge and dissapointing experience with Nedbank and its banking app last night and I'm afraid that I just lost a huge amount of money due to this.
I drove all the way from Brits in NW to Krugersdorp GP to go have a look at a car to buy. After viewing the car and negotiating the price, we agreed on the transaction and part of it was that I would only be able to take the car if I make an immediate payment and once the money reflects in the seller's account due to all the ****s going around. I have agreed to it and started the transaction. I went on the nedbank money app, and tried paying for the purchase on my credit card because I didn't have the funds available in my savings. Upon clicking on the immediate payment tab on my credit card, I received a notification that it would exceed my daily limit. I then increased that limit on my credit card and tried again, clicked on the immediate payment tab and finilised the transaction. We then waited for the funds to reflect in the seller's account to no avail. I then called nedbanks helpline to find out what was happening. I was told that he can see the transaction and he could see that the funds left my account and confirmed that he could see that it was an immediate payment. He then said that we would sometimes have to wait for 30mins for the transaction to complete. We waited and still no funds appeared. I then called the helpline again, and asked to speak to the same consultant that helped me the 1st time. After a while he called me back. But this time I didn't like what I was told. He said that he investigated this matter a bit further and APPARENTLY, immediately payments does not work paying from credit cards and that the funds will only reflect in the sellers account in 3 days. I then proceeded to ask him if I can reverse the tranction and the responce was that, no I can't reverse the transaction. I then told the consultant that I can see a (delete scheduled transaction) button on the app. He then told me that I might be able to but would be charged an amount of R 495,00 for the reversal and it won't be guaranteed that I get my money back, and if it works it could take up to 45 days. I then asked to speak to the manager on duty. After he couldn't be of any assistance either, I then insisted to speak to his manager and was persistant that I will be going all the way to the top if needed till I can find someone that could finally assist me. I was then told that his manager was off duty and that she would contact me 1st thing in the morning.
This is a massive problem, firstly because the app allowed me to select the immediate payment tab on a payment from my credit card acc without any notificatiin that it couldn't be done. Secondly, the funds already left my account. Thirdly, I cannot take the vehicle I just bought from a private seller. So what do I do? I cant leave without the car because who knows if it will still be there when the money does finally reflect. The seller won't let me take the car because the money is not in their account. So what now. We then agreed to take a massise chance. After spending 5 hours at the sellers place, we decided that the car will stay there and that I would take the papers with me and that I could fetch the car once the money is in their account.
Its now Sunday morning @ 10:30 I have no car and the money has left my account. And now to top it all, I was now told by the seller that they have still not received payment and they have other interested buyers. They will be prepared to wait for the payment till Monday but now, they want the full price they advertised for of R 25000 and not our negotiated price of R 20000 seeing that they now have to wait for the payment.
I am not prepared to pay their requested price of 25000 as the transaction has already been made and agreed upon. If they persist, then they can call off the deal but I will be holding onto the papers till the money is back in my account.
The big question now is, am I gonna be getting my money back.
What is Nedbank going to do about this.
My feeling is that Nedbank has placed me at a huge risk. Nedbank should resolve this matter immediately and should be held liable for any loss, costs incurred and inconvenience.
Thank you
