Nedbank putting elderly clients at risk of contracting Covid-19
I am very disappointed in the way Nedbank is handling the Covid-19 situation. I live in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town and use the Gabriel Road, Plumstead branch. Earlier this month, I went to the branch and there was a queue around the block (about 40 people) at 9am so I decided to return later when the queue was shorter. The branch has since been closed "until further notice" and I was directed to the Constantia Village branch. When I got to that branch at 10.30am, there was a queue of about 20 people waiting to enter the bank. Many of the people were elderly including two ladies with walkers. The Nedbank branch in Rondebosch has also been closed and clients were being directed to the Kenilworth branch. The Rondebosch and Plumstead branches serve elderly people in the surrounding retirement villages and many walk to the shops etc. as they do not have ready access to transport. They are also "old school" and prefer face to face interactions rather than on-line banking as they are being encouraged to use. Many are also very anxious about their finances at this time. Therefore, it is unconscionable that Nedbank has chosen to close these branches thereby putting the health and lives of their clients especially the elderly and others with co-morbidities at greater risk of contracting Covid-19 by forcing them to find transport to other branches and then to queue for long periods. I have not noticed such long queues outside other banks such as FNB and Capitec at this time.
Marcelle L's review of 27 June on Hellopeter (https://www.hellopeter.com/nedbank/reviews/poor-service-nedbank-constantia-***) shows that Nedbank is still showing a blatant disregard towards their clients' health and safety. Well done to Marcelle L for taking her business to another bank.
Still no reply from Nedbank......
