Nedbank (Private wealth)

I've been with Nedbank for a number of years, since my student days, when I opened my first student account. I've since completed my studies and entered the job market as a young professional. I was presented with Nedbanks young professionals banking package, and opted in when I heard of the benefits. I travel a lot, so the lounge access at airports were certainly a selling point, and access to a relationship banker. Unfortunately most of their promises were empty, apart from the lounge access, as this is the only benefit that I was able to use. According to my package I had access to a relationship banker, and since I've had the packagend the only time that I met with this banker is when I decided to close my accounts after various troubles. I still stood in ques for hours if I had to get something done at the bank. Since I've moved to ABSA's private banking I've been more than satisfied. I have not had to stand in a single que ever. Nedbank can certainly learn from them.

So my actual reason for posting is that I am just fed up with Nedbank. It started when I needed to increase my credit limit on my credit card. I emailed my "apparent" relationship banker, only to get a response that she was not with Nedbank anymore. BTW this was the first time ever I emailed her in need of anything. My email would then apparently have been forwarded to someone else. I waited for a week with no response, then visited my branch, which is the George branch in an attempt to sort things out. Only to be told that they cannot touch my accounts because I am private wealth, and that I needed to work through my relationship banker (who did not exist at the time). I then asked whit whom I can deal with as my relationship banker was not with Nedbank anymore. I then got a "I don't know". So in the end none of my queries or requests got sorted out till this day. I then decided to visit a competitor who was very eager to help me and take me on as a client, and since then I have not been sorry. I am a few months away from qualifying as a chartered accountant, and apparently banks are willing to bend over backwards to accommodate me, apart from Nedbank.

With my new account open I've moved everything over to my new bank, and decided to close my Nedbank accounts. I stood in the que again, for hours, then again to be told they cannot help. However at this time they've appointed a new relationship banker, which I only got informed of when I visited the branch. So we arranged a meeting, and I made my requests clear, to "Please close my accounts". After which I got told that she will give instruction for my accounts to be closed.

Since then it has been weeks, and subsequently my bank charges for the month had been deducted from my account, for which I had to transfer money from my new accounts. I emailed my banker again, stating specifically that I'm trying to avoid bank charges and that my accounts should be closed asap. I attached a read receipt to the email. Since then my email had been read, but I have not received any response and my accounts are still open, I then emailed to follow up on the progress again, only to have no reply again. Is no-reply's a Nedbank thing???

Please I don't know what to do anymore, cause nothing is getting done from Nedbanks side. I am at the point were I just want to walk into the branch or private wealth office and cause chaos. If bank charges are going to be deducted from my account again, they are setting themselves up for massive amounts of trouble. I can't imagine that a bank as reputational as Nedbank would be setting themselves up for such negative publicity. If a client can't even get a response to an email, don't expect them not to spread the word.
