Nedbank overdraft process takes weeks with no results and is a waste of time
I have been a Nedbank customer for over two decades. Recently, I attempted to increase the overdraft limit on my account.
At first, I tried using the Nedbank App, which allowed me to request a call back. After requesting a call, you have to wait 24 hours before you can request a call again. After three failed attempts (and 3 days of waiting), I decided to call their customer service directly.
My initial interaction was pleasant, however it was time consuming. I spend close to an hour on the phone and followed up with emailing documents. The representative was supposed to respond to me by end of day, and yet I received no return call.
The following day I received this feedback:
Hello RYAN PAULSEN
Nedbank thanks you for your application.
You have app**** for the following product(s): Overdraft Savvy Plus We regret to inform you that we've declined your application(s) because: Your reference number is ***.
If you require your official decline letter, call us on ***.
No reason was provided for the declined services. On the Monday I phoned back and spoke with another representative, who was uncertain as to the reason I was declined. He informed me that he would contact me the following day with more information.
I heard nothing from the representative, and decided to call back on the Friday. He informed me that I did not meet the salary requirements for the amount I was request. I then proceeded to ask if I could apply for a lesser amount. To which the representative informed me that I would have to start the process all over again as it was a new application.
I am extremely frustrated with this whole process. It has been over 3 weeks since I began this process.
In addition, I constantly recieve advertising from Nedbank that I am eligible for overdraft limit increases far beyond what I requested.
My credit score is 681/730.
I also have a vehicle finance through Nedbank.
Overall, this whole process has left a sour taste in my mouth. It seems that my loyalty to Nedbank is not reciprocated at all.
