Nedbank Insurance Claim for retrenchment rejected

Letter to Nedbank - Rejection of my insurance claim after being retrenched - this was sent to complaints department as advised to do so by claims department after being told they cannot assist with claim

Good day to you

Firstly I would state my disappointment in Nedbank in that now my situation is at a place where it goes to die... The complaints department

After 11 years of loyal service at my previous employment I was retrenched. I was retrenched with no provident and a lousy severance package. Just like many South Africans my employment was to the private sector where our interests was not something that the owner cared about. It was always about them. But then again like many South Africans I did not complain about the abuse or chose to strike as having a job was most important as is brought an income.

It also shows at Nedbank that this is common practice towards the little people. Unless we are millionaires or offerring a tender proposals our needs are not recognized because we dont have the money for high class lawyers and labour practioners... We just follow queues and never get ahead.

Everything I took with Nedbank I did with insurance. I did this not for the sake of it but was given the assurance that should something like this had to happen to me it would be taken care of... But I guess it's not the case. I took the insurance not because I knew this would happen but for security as these things happen.

But it seems Nedbank does not care. I have been retrenched... I signed off from the company as per meetings held and received my documentation thinking that all was in order. Now even when I get retrenched it seems that what I am going through is not enough because my claims are being rejected.

What do you want from me? I have always kept my payments during employment and now when I am dealing with the stress of unemployment I get told that Nedbank will not assist. A letter confirming specifically reason for retrenchment was requested for me to submit, I had asked the company for same and was denied. And thereafter Nedbank gives me such security in your response of "there is nothing that you can do."

If I am unemployed where do I get the income to pay for what I need to pay for? Then my record will go to trash which in turn will cause my recruitment to another company to be more difficult as these details are checked. Which now makes it more difficult to find means to pay Nedbank. These are all the things that we go through and not by choice. And this is the ripple effect of what happens and Nedbank has a big part to play in that.

I write this with least confidence in your services to actually assist. "I'm sorry" does not help me or anyone like me in this position.

I paid my insurances all were active and now in my time of need I need those services paid for to come through.

With the millions in this country facing financial difficulty it shows that corporates as yourselves are there only to take and the truth being corporates as yourselves contribute to the factors that leave people in poverty, jobless, homeless and desperate. Desperation that has brought turmoil to this country where thieving, *******, ***** and ****** has become a way of life for people to get what they need to survive.

Anyways as this being the complaints department you can understand the lengthy email... No I am not venting but I have been placed in a situation and understand what it is liked to be "bent over" the most polite way I could put it.

I know of many people who due to these types of incidents happening in their lives that they turn to suicide. They do it because when they thought they had help they did not. And it was always corperates as yourselves phoning, SMS and emailing them reminding them that they have no money, insurance does not want to pay and they need to pay instalments. Death was the only escape they had. As a reality check.. You have the records... How many lives were lost due to the immoral stance that Nedbank takes on their clients.

If you are not willing to assist I know there is nothing I can do... But please tell your call centre as well when they call for payment that it would be a waste of your own time, money and efforts as if I am unemployed and have insurance cover with a heartless and inconsiderate service provider that will not pay out... There is nothing that I can do
