Nedbank Insecure Online Banking System
I am 82 years old and have been a Perm/Nedbank client from 1972. I am bitterly disappointed with the service I received from Nedbank after money was **********ly taken from my Savings and Cheque Accounts. Forensic Investigator, Yolanda Olivia Kock (who informed me about the *****) and Thathakahle Mbambo, Executive Service Support (Durban) handled my case. According to Ms Kock, I accepted an "approve it message" on 04 08 2020 at 8.20.20 on my cell phone. Four withdrawals came off the Cheque Account and two from my Savings Account (5 of them took place at midnight on 08 08 2020 and 1 the next morning at 5:39:22. I was informed by Ms. Kock on 13 08 2020 that ***** had taken place, i.e. 5 days later. I sent an affidavit that I did not do those transactions. No evidence was provided by Nedbank to hold me responsible. My questions to Nedbank were: 1. I did not report the *****. How do they know it was *****? 2. Why did it take so many days to inform me ("approve it" message on 4th, ***** on 8th and 9th - I was informed on 13th. Something is wrong with their online banking system (approve it message lasted for 4 days before theft occurred) 3. How were new beneficiaries created without me accepting an OTP or "Approve it message" via my phone? One ********* is a Nedbank client and Ms Kock did a reversal on14th(within 24 hours after informing me on the 13th) for an amount of R25000.00. Mr Mbambo offered an amount of R15000.00 (instead of R89350.00) as a "goodwill gesture,"which I refused to accept. He closed my case on 12 09 2020. I sent a registered letter to "Managing Director Nedbank" requesting a full refund ( because their online banking system is not secure) on 15 Oct 2020 but to date have not received any response.
