Nedbank Home Loans - Apparently they know more about law than actual lawyers
I submitted a home loan application to Nedbank Home Loans and a sales consultant by the name of "Trevlin Hiralall" contacted me. I am doing a half share transfer, in other words I am purchasing 50% of a property from the co-owner so that I will own 100% of the property. I am listed as a purchaser on the offer to purchase and the co-owner is listed as the seller. However, according to Mr Hiralall, Nedbank require the offer to purchase to state that I am a seller as well as the purchaser. This makes absolutely no sense. I am not selling anything; I am purchasing the other 50%. I then referred the issue to the attorneys dealing with the transfer (Tonkin Clacey) and they sent Mr Hiralla an email confirming that the offer to purchase is in fact correct. They also stated that Mr Hiralall is welcome to contact their conveyancers to discuss this. According to him Nedbank cannot contact any other party other than the client. So you don't want to contact the attorneys dealing with the transfer even after I have given you permission to do so? But you refuse to process the application as you state the offer to purchase is incorrect based on your "policies". What a nightmare to deal with, think I'll just cancel the application.
