Nedbank home insurance is a ****!!
I bought property that is financed by Nedbank, I felt that it would be best that I take the home insurance with them since I heard good things about them before I bought my property but it was a lie.
Everybody in South Africa knows that CPT has been unfavourable weather conditions to the point that some parts of the Western Cape were flooded. I was unfortunately one of the people who were affected by the storms and hail winds as my gutter fell off and some if the roof tiles shifter due to wind to the point that water was dripping into the bathroom roof, I logged an insurance claim with Nedbank Insurance on the 29th July and I was given a claim number and the lady I spoke to informed me that the claim was logged/registered… I also received an sms confirming that claim was logged and I also had the reference number.
Days went by and I heard nothing from them up unti the 07th August whereby I thought I should give them a call to follow up on my claim as the gutter was still not fixed and it was making banging noise on the wall as it was still sagging. The lady said that she would follow up with the contractor that was assigned to my claim and would advise when they would come and assess. Later on the day (07th August) I received a call from the appointed contractor. He came and assessed the property and saw that the gutter was still loose and hanging, climbed up to the roof and noticed that some of the roof tiles had shifted and he also agreed that it could have been due to the strong winds that we have been having, he took pictures of the damages and left telling me that he would feedback to Nedbank about his findings.
Today (08th August), I received a call from Nedbank insurance department informing me that my clam has been declined due to findings reported by their selected vendor. According to them the fallen gutter and the roof tiles that shifted is not part of what am insured for as this is maintenance that I as a homeowner have to take care of.
My insurance in black and white stipulates that my property is ensured for storms and hail and I am not understanding why now I have to pay out of my pocket to pay for what I am insured for.
This is my form claim with Nedbank Home Insurance and my claim is being denied… for what? Nedbank is surely robbing me out and they are not living up to the promises they made when I signed up for the insurance.
I am fuming and feel ****** to the pint that I want to move my bond to another bank and take on a home insurance with another company.
Nedbank you are a ****!!!
