Nedbank gave customer info to 3rd parties now inform us our details compromised.

I received an sms & this email on the 14th February. Disturbing that Nedbank has our information stored at a 3rd party & they admit our details compromised! Including our contact details address &, ID!

This is not acceptable that our details used by others for marketing etc.

We regret to inform you that some of your personal information (your name, ID number, address, phone number and/or email address) was potentially compromised as a result of a data incident at the premises of one of our third-party service providers. We can assure you that your accounts and money with Nedbank are safe. Nedbank's systems and our clients' bank accounts, passwords and pins have not been affected or compromised in any manner whatsoever.

The third-party is a direct marketing company called Computer Facilities (Pty) Ltd that issues SMS and email communication on behalf of Nedbank and a number of other companies.

Nedbank identified the incident as part of our ongoing monitoring procedures and has moved swiftly and proactively to secure and destroy all Nedbank client information at the third-party service provider, whose systems are now disconnected from the internet.

Your Nedbank account is not at risk due to this incident and you do not need to take any further action other than continuing to be vigilant against attempts at *****.

We remind you that as always, the best way to protect yourself from potential ***** is to follow the three simple practices that we set out in our general awareness campaigns: 1. Contact Nedbank immediately should you suspect unauthorised use of your personal information at ***or ***. 2. Never share your passwords or pins with anyone - ever. 3. Never disclose your personal information to anyone who calls you, emails you, or SMSs you. Remember Nedbank will never contact you asking for this information.
