Nedbank. False advertising and theft
Left ABSA after over 25 years due to useless customer service. Chose Nedbank for a few reasons, one being their No funds alert, which now appears to be false advertising to lure clients into a web of theft. I opened my account in January and as expected when one moves debit orders some service providers get it wrong. This is where I thought the NO FUNDS ALERT would be of use to me, but to no avail. Not only have I not received a single no funds alert, but every debit order but one has been returned after I funded the account after receiving a low funds alert and the sms for the presented debit order. I spoke to my branch manager about this, and he admitted the NO funds alert system is flawed, and refunded my transaction fee. He said he would notify the relevant department of the issue and get back to me. Still waiting. This happened to me again yesterday. No no funds alert received.Debit order for R477.00 presented. Time and date on SMS 16 March at 02:03. Balance -R467.27. Low funds alert received on the morning of the 16th. Funded account with R6000.00. Balance now R5532.73, so debit order amount covered. Guess what debit order returned. Time and date on SMS. 17 March 02:51. This is theft, and false advertising. How many people are Nedbank doing this to. Next stop Banking Ombudsman, Consumer protection board, Ask Georgie etc. etc, and will be moving banks. PS my wife's account and our bond is with Nedbank.
