Nedbank Durban North clears R200 000 deposit into *********'s account

Disgraceful service from a bank. I logged a call with Nedbank's ***** line (Case number 2020E2112) on the 6 May 2020 when they allowed my R200 000 deposit (for purchasing my home) to go through and clear to one of their individual accounts without even checking that the Attorneys name on my EFT under Account Name was vastly different from the individual's name of the said bank account. Unknowingly I did an EFT into a Nedbank account that a ********* had given me (they had intercepted the attorneys email to me and provided the Nedbank Durban North bank account details). After waiting for days for feedback from Nedbank, the legal advisor Luvuyo Siko sent me an email today to say that there is nothing that they can do, they are apparently blameless and take no accountability...and then gives me the account holders name and ID number "as a courtesy" to get my money back. The funds were also apparently drawn immediately from this bank account. This is inbelieveable! They have not even answered me as to 1. Why did no one from their Durban North Branch checked that the account name on my EFT was different from the account name that the money was being deposited to. 2. Who cleared the money without doing the valid check? 3. Why did they not call me or my bank to verify the deposit if both the account names did not match? To me this is a blatant act by the bank to pull the wool over the consumers eyes, surely if the bank account name for a R200 000 deposit did not match then you question the deposit with 1 phonecall to the bank or the person making the deposit? I am in a position to start legal action against the bank but what about the other innocent unsuspecting people out there that are ****** by this bank and their unsympathetic ***** team. If they can treat me this way for R200 000, how would they treat people for a far lesser amount? It is really sad that this bank can behave in this manner and not care about helping people who lose their life savings, especially when it was an internal error and lack of Duty of Care from their side. I am positive that there are other people out there who are in the same situation as me with Nedbank and I will not rest until I get my life savings back from them.
