Nedbank does not care about your privacy and or POPIA

I am appalled by the level of maladministration and the blatant disregard for South African privacy laws (POPIA) demonstrated by Nedbank.

For over a week, I have been trapped in a loop with my Private Banker and a "Service Resolution Specialist" regarding a massive security failure: unauthorized third-party contact data (my mother’s private information) was linked to my profile. Nedbank’s own staff admitted in writing that they "cannot find a trail" for where this data came from.

Instead of resolving this breach, Nedbank doubled down on their failure:

******* Handover: While this dispute was active and documented, Nedbank handed my accounts over to external attorneys (Smit Jones and Pratt Inc.) and NDS without a single formal notice or a Section 129 letter.

Bad Faith: They ignored a 24-hour ultimatum to recall these accounts, choosing instead to go silent for 7 days.

Data Negligence: By handing me over, they have now shared my (and the *******ly linked third-party) data with even more external agencies without my consent.

I have fulfilled my payment obligations, yet I am being harassed by debt collectors because Nedbank’s internal departments refuse to communicate. I have now escalated this matter to the National Financial Ombud (NFO) and the Information Regulator for a formal POPIA contravention.

If you value your privacy and expect procedural fairness, stay away from Nedbank Private Banking. They do not protect your data, and they do not follow the National Credit Act.
