Nedbank does not allow me to control my own money?

I recently cancelled a debit order online. The debit order was not cancelled by Nedbank and when we contacted our private banker she informed me that I cannot cancel my own debit orders and that the beneficiary of said order must cancel from their side? This effectively means that if said beneficiary does not agree to cancel said order I will pay for the rest of my life!!!! Do I have to close my account with Nedbank to be in control of my own money once again?
