Nedbank Dispute Resolution Services - Severely Disappointed.
Card Transaction Disputes Department (Dispute Resolution Services). Around the end of May I tried to book a flight to Botswana and used what I believed to be SkyScanner. I was in a hurry and did not realise the google search brought up an ad and that I was directed to another site that merely used skyscanner in their URL (I assume to fool real Skyscanner customers). This company did not actually book any tickets for me, but they did take my R5000. Once the mistake had been realised and all attempts to contact the "company" had failed I lodged a Cardholder Transaction Dispute with Nedbank by following the instructions from my personal banker (what form, email address etc), including (in the email) my asking if they needed anything else from me. Two weeks later and I had received no notification from them whatsoever. Not even single line acknowledging that the form had been received. Only an automated reply telling me to be aware of what that email address is for. Now the automated reply does indicate a dispute can take "up to 45 days for Card Dispute analysis and processing". There is now one month left of this and so I sent a follow up query asking for confirmation of some sort. 3 days later I get an email asking for the form to be submitted again so that they can "locate the transaction". I think I must have been in Botswana at this point (where I had no internet for a few days) and so I only forwarded the form I had sent previously as a reply to this email 5 days later. Same automated reply, but I am now 21 into the 45 days. 71 (yes 71) days after I first sent the form (50 days after sending it again) I finally get a response from Nedbank saying I must prove I tried to contact the travel company or **** whatever they are by forwarding the email I sent them. This email was signed "Regards, Lebo". No surname, no email address, no contact information whatsoever that might lead me to think there are actually accountable people in this department. I have been trying to find this proof, but given that I lodged my complaint on a website, and not by sending a trackable email (they do not provide an email address) and that the company answered the phone for all of 30 seconds before putting me on hold again (after holding for maybe an hour the first time), all this happened nearly three months ago! I stand very little chance of finding proof, or contacting the company again to fulfil this requirement (given that they did not even reply the first time). I did however expect Nedbank to give me more than THREE WORKING DAYS to find something (or attempt again to fulfil this requirement) and send it to them before informing me that the dispute has been CLOSED, due to my not providing sufficient information and I must now deal with it myself. 77 days after the fact. Never mind that any chance I had of resolving it myself went out the window long ago, Nedbank took a MONTH longer than they promise (which is already more than a month) just to reply! But their customers they give THREE DAYS??? What do I pay them for??? If not for the fact the the company I work for now banks with Nedbank, and my bond is now with Nedbank, I would be going back to FNB today immediately. The purpose of this review aside it is not the only problem I have had with Nedbank (online portal crashing and app not working correctly sort of things) Honestly I sometimes wish I had never changed. This entire experience has left me with a terrible taste in my mouth, and I will never forget it.
