Nedbank Credit Card Arrears incorrectly passed to Credit Bureau
I recently app**** for an FNB home loan and got declined because my Nedbank Credit Card (according to ITC and Compuscan) was in arrears.
This was odd to me since I instructed my Nedbank Private Banker (MariliseS) in 2016 to close ALL my Nedbank accounts.
It now seems my Credit Card was not closed and that some fees were still being subtracted. I NEVER got an email or phone call or SMS from Nedbank to inform me of this arrears amount (according to ITC its about R300)
I phoned Nedbank today and was sent all around the call centre, from pillar to post. From the Customer Care department, to the Credit Card Department to Collections. I even called the Professional Services department. Not ONE could tell me that I had an arrears amount. Not ONE could tell me why the Credit Bureau has data (from Nedbank) saying that I am in arrears.
I am absolutely disgusted. I am now trying to close the account and get Nedbank to send me a letter to confirm that I am not in arrears on my credit card, and hopefully appeal the FNB assessment.
I would like to recommend to anyone reading this post to NOT under any circumstances trust Nedbank private banking and not trust their financial systems. Make sure your instructions have been executed, check your Credit Profile regularly. Credit Bureau data is central to all credit risk decisions currently and if there is some admin stuff-up it will be your problem.
