Nedbank charges customer for the banks problems!!!
on the morning of the 10th June, my card was swallowed by a Nedbank ATM in Century city, cape town. There was no error message, no warning, nothing. I called the help center who told me that they would: (1) block my card and (2) reorder me a new card to collect at a branch of my choice. In the interim i was advised to use my American Express card. Problem one, the Amex card was useless, most of the small retailers and petrol stations i visited did not accept this. After 2 days of suffering, i went into a branch who ordered me a new card. I was told they needed to order both cards. However i could not perform any of the basics that i desperately needed to do. Groceries, online shopping, petrol etc with the amex card. The branch issued me a temporary card which i was told would be at no cost. Lo and behold my account has been debited R145 for "card replacement" Now i ask you, since its Nedbanks own pathetic system of poor ATMs and Amex cards which does NOT get accepted everywhere (despite what we are made to believe), why should i pay for the replacement? If this is the banks poilicy, guess what time for consumers to look elsewhere. Nedbank, your service is poor, your fees are high and you do not value your loyal customers. All of a sudden Capitec makes a heck of a lot of sense to me.
