Nedbank changed my banking package without informing me.
I've been a Nedbank user for more than 15 years. I have a current account, my wife has a current account, I have several home loans, etc. My journey was somewhat accidental - I was a 20Twenty client, became a Standard Chartered client as that bank moved, and finally a Nedbank client via Go Banking. I'm super happy with my banking construct and for several years I've being singing Nedbank's praises.
Not anymore.
Yesterday I noticed fees been levied against my account. I've never paid fees for EFT's or card swipes as I've always maintained a minimum balance. I called the helpdesk and they confirmed that the fees were odd as my balance was above the minimum, but noted that they couldn't fix it and I'd have to go into a bank. I reminded them that this was a huge inconvenience for me as I was travelling with work and this was an ask that would waste my time, when the fault was the banks. They responded by saying that they'd send a message to one of my local branches and possibly they've be able to resolve.
Later in the day I received a call from a branch. They advised that Go Banking accounts had been decommissioned and I had been moved to a different account construct. They further said that this had been communicated to all clients. This is corporate dishonesty at it's bit, an utter lie - both my wife and myself are Go Banking clients and at no stage have either one of us received a single piece of comms to note that our banking account would be changed - this left me utterly disgusted.
I asked what equivalent services are been offered. The person at the bank responded with a few options that would cost me between 5x and 10x what I pay currently in bank fees.
Furthermore, I'd have to come in to the bank to sort out. They also noted that they can reverse the unexpected bank fees, but only if I came into the bank. At this stage I was so disgusted, I advised that I'd have to consider my options and would come in when I was back from my business trip. I asked her to email me her details so that I knew who to ask for when I came in - she hasn't.
After this I don't feel like Nedbank deserves my patronage anymore - I'm considering closing all my accounts. Nedbank, if you read this, this is disgusting customer service. You: * Didn't inform me you were changing my account * Weren't respectful of my time in correcting the problem * Didn't offer my any alternatives * Never made me feel like you were worthy of continued support
If you want to retain me as a customer, you need to: * Sort this out * Undo the fees * Provide me an *equivalent* option * Match the fee construct
In the absence of the above, I'm switching to one of the new digital banks, you're no longer worthy of my patronage.
Disgusted.
