NEDBANK BAD SERVICE
My mother is a loyal client of Nedbank since 1957 when she immigrated from the Netherlands to South Africa. Since 1957 this account has been in good standing with the bank, never overdrawn. During 2022 she had a partial hip replacement at the age of 95, which impacted on her mobility. During September 2022 we had to rent an Uber to take het into the Nedbank Brooklyn branch where we waited for more than an hour to be served and then battled another hour to put a Power of Attorney into place so she does not have to battle to get to the bank again. On 18 November 2022 she got an email from Nedbank to go to the branch to FICA her account by 25 November 2022 with the treat that the account will be blocked. On 25 November 2022 I took off from work and went to Nedbank Brooklyn with all the documents required as per the email received and the Power of Attorney document to verify the account. This was done at the branch and I was told the account was updated. Low and behold on 1 December 2022 I went to the pharmacy for her medication and to my embarrassment the card was declined. I went to an ATM just to see the account had been restricted, My mother send an email to Nedbank but we had no reply to date and the account is still blocked, we cannot see if any debit orders are trough, if the rent is paid neither the balance on the account, everything is blocked. So this is how Nedbank treats loyal customers in their golden years that has medical problems and cannot get to a branch and even if they do make provisions and do what is asked the account still gets blocked. My mother is sick of worry for she does not know what is happening in her finances and I am working so I cannot run around to Nedbank. It seems the one hand does not know what the other is doing. I am with FNB and I never had my account blocked for nonsense. My mother's details was updated in full when we went to the bank to sign the Power of Attorney, Nedbank clearly does not know what they are doing except to inconvenience their customers. I am going to move my mother's account to another bank as I am tired of Nedbank's ongoing demands for which you have to forever go to a branch to sort out with people not knowing what they are doing. If you do your utter best to take the person there, they have to wait for hours to be served, at my bank people in wheelchairs get served promptly. It seems to me that Nedbank has the most security measures their clients has to abide to but so funny with all that in place they still get targeted by ********* the most of all the banks. Thank you Nedbank for nothing!
