Nedbank ATM crash mid cash deposit, staff completely unwilling to help

I'm writing this review based on the somewhat absurd interactions I have had with Nedbank staff after I had an ATM cash deposit gone wrong.

What happened? I deposited an amount of money in a Nedbank ATM. My fatal mistake was not verifying the exact amount of how much I had deposited.

The Machine made a whirring sound, as it usually does, I'm assuming it is counting money. After an awkwardly long wait it flashed a message in the vein of "machine malfunction" or "technical error". gave my card back and went back to the normal idle screen.

Now, that sentence alone, I'm CONCERNED about Nedbank's staff seemingly not able to understand what I mean when I repeatedly explain "The screen indicated a message with the text technical error, or some similar warning message..." . The second time I went to discuss the matter at the Canal Walk branch in person, when I was handed a copy of the incident form that detail wasn't even written in the comment.

Secondly. The fact that I need to provide an exact amount of what I deposited. Lets IGNORE the idea that the ATM simply, you know, returns the money if some issue pops up. After trying to argue the matter with two separate staff members I essentially got the impression that they were telling me that, since I can't provide the exact amount. My money is just gone. Sorry, too bad.

I feel helpless after an incident where an ATM just swalloe- sorry, I should use the correct language here, S-T-O-L-E my money, that now I need to wade through a mountain of belittling and gaslighting by your staff. Oh sorry you didn't exactly check how much money you put in? LMAO, LOL sucks 2 be u.

I know I messed up. I was an idiot for trusting that the R80'000 machine works properly, I was an idiot for not simply waiting and depositing my cash in person with a teller where- I hope to god- this same issue cannot occur.

My option now is to figure out how many business days its going to take me to issue 300 ATM-crash-on-deposit reports. If I need to guess the amount correctly then I can simply start on the lower estimate, and for each R10 increment write a report. I wasn't at any point of the process given any sort of reassurance that I'll get my money back. Not even something like "we'll count the money in the machine and compare it against all the other transactions involving cash,".

I'm irritated, I'm beyond irritated. Don't worry, this hellopeter review isn't my last final desperate attempt at reaching out. If I need to work my way up to a meeting with the board of directors I'll do it.

Also, for the inevitable Nedbank response to this post. Don't give me a phone number to dial. I've already wasted over R100 sitting on hold trying to get a one star ISP to release my line. If you want me to discuss this issue with me, give me one of your employee's PERSONAL WORK CONTACT NUMBERS and Ill organize a meeting IN PERSON with them. I'm in the Cape Town/Paarl areas.

Last words Nedbank, CONTACT YOUR ATM MANUFACTURER. This is a failure mode in equipment that is completely and utterly unacceptable. If they respond with some lame excuse of "technical reasons" inform them that "lies used to be believable". Seriously? No error codes? No reference number? No automated email to the department handling these faults Not even just RETURNING the money? You're paying absurd amounts for these machines and this is the _BEST_ they can give you?

My name on my profile isn't my EXACT name irl. If you can see my cell number and email, you can infer my profile at Nedbank trivially with that.
