Nedbank are so slow they make a snail's pace seem fast!

I went to the Pinetown Branch yesterday to apply for an increase in my already existing overdraft, and to enquire about a personal loan. Even though there were two consultants available and only one was busy, I had to wait well over a half hour to be seen because the other one had not booted up his computer (this was at 9.42 a.m.). I saw staff laughing, joking, chatting and pretending to dry the floor with the caution sign ... but when I wanted to complain to the manager, she was not there. I was promised an answer but am still waiting and my e-mailed complaint to the branch manager this morning has not yet been rep**** to. They need to explain why Standard Bank can increase their overdraft telephonically, but with Nedbank you have to go to the branch with your ID, payslip and sign forms. Why does it take them so long? This is not the 16th Century!!! Every single time I have to do anything other than internet banking with Nedbank, it is a huge problem and they are legendary for their gross inefficiency and the delays and length of time it takes for them to do anything. I am seriously looking at other banking options, as my dealings with MFC have also not been impressive.

I have already emailed Cheryl Reddy, the Pinetown BMW who was not any more help than you are. Why does everything with Nedbank take so long? Please answer the question which many customers ask but you avoid answering. 5 weeks for a personal loan on a previous complaint? 7 to 10 WORKING days to increase an overdraft limit is NOT an acceptable turn around time. You work for your clients. Try helying them for a change instead of making lame excuses while your staff waltz around doing nothing when they should be working.

I was contacted by Nicholas Govender in regard to this complaint, and quite miraculously, the matter was finalised. However, it is not for the right amount .... If it was not so frustrating I would just laugh. I need a certain amount and only when it seemed that the meeting was winding down did I ask the consultant why he had not requested details of the amount I wanted as an increase. He said he thought I had told him a figure which was NOT the case. The increase has now been approved but not for the amount I want. Why does the consultant decide how much I need? Surely I know how much I need?????? Yet more incompetence from Nedban k. I remain utterly disgusted. My e-mails about this and the high interest rate have yet to be answered.

And I am still waiting for Nedbank to sort this out ... Believe it or not, I would have to do the entire application from scratch and wait goodness only knows how much longer if I don't sign the WRONG DOCUMENTS!!! Really disgusting service, considering that we are now already 7 working days along.

This was finally resolved, but not after much gnashing of the teeth and foaming at the mouth. I was astonished to be told by Nicolas Govender that an overdraft increase is not a service, but is a credit application and that is why it takes so long. I find that strange because I thought advancing credit to clients was a large part of the service the bank provides, and furthermore, the credit I app**** for with regard to my motor vehicle finance was granted on the same day of the application. And it was with Nedbank ... I trust that Nedbank will speed up their procedures as they remain slower than a snail.
