Nedbank apathy for pensioners.
I have had a mortgage bond with Nedbank for about 15 years, I owe a relatively small amount, and, note please that the bond is covered at least fifteen times by the value of the property. Note also that I have had mortgage bonds for good deal of of my working life: 42 years of bond repayments, in fact. I have thus had to pay at least 500 bond payments to various institutions , and HAVE NEVER, NOT ONCE, MISSED A PAMENT. For cashflow purposes, I requested than Nedbank extend my bond repayment term. This will mean more money for them, but a more affordable monthly payment for me, a pensioner. No way would Nedbank consider helping me with my payment terms. The answer was simply "No, you're too old!" After never missing over 500 bond payments. Thanks for nothing, Nedbank. Next time I will go to a bank that says "How can we HELP you", and really mean it. It's time that financial institutions realise that people are no longer dying at age 65, but living healthy lives for much longer: they should revise their age-related policies.
