Nedbank - another financial bully

After a number of years under debt review I got myself into a position where I was able to settle most of my outstanding debts, so I emailed my creditors and requested settlement balances. I received the requested info and settled the accounts.

My experience with Nedbank was as follows:

According to our own records a final payment of R285.07 was made in August 2016.

So, to make sure, I sent an email to ********** on 04 April 2016 at 09:48 requesting a balance on the account, and also requested that monthly statements be sent to me as I had not received any statements since 2011.

On 05 April 2016 at 09:37 I received a reply informing me that my request had been forwarded to the Card Legal Department - Ref ********** 8. I did not receive any further response from Nedbank or Card Legal Department.

As I had not received the requested info from Nedbank, on 06 Dec 2016 at 08:56 I sent another email requesting a settlement amount, to ********** and copied in **********

On 07 Dec 2017 at 12:10 I received a reply informing me that my request had been forwarded to the Card Legal Department - Ref ********** . I did not receive anything further from Nedbank, or Card Legal Department.

I have still not received a statement since 2011 for this account, but on Friday 2nd March I did receive an sms from a lawyer: "immediate payment required to avoid writ". When I phoned the lawyer I was told that the writ had been actioned that morning. So now, I am under legal execution, because of incompetence on the part of Nedbank .

I have no record of requests (or demands) from Nedbank to settle the account, and I cannot find such requests from the lawyer either. I cannot see why I should be held accountable for this, particularly since I did try to obtain the info but never received it.
