Nedbank and their partner in crime Brooks and Luyt inc attorneys
I write this filled with a profound sense of frustration, the source of my frustration comes from Nedbank and to be specific their Credit Card Collections department in conjunction with a Brooks and Luyt Inc attorneys. My story is this, I had a credit card with Nedbank and in 2022 I became unemployed so because I had no steady income I stopped paying my credit card. Over the years Nedbank has been communicating that I need to pay or make arrangements to pay the credit card but I did not, mid 2024 I eventually got a job and have been struggling to get back to my feet. In December 2024 Nedbank withdrew R5000 from my account because of the outstanding credit card, I immediately called them and they told me that my account was now handed over to Brooks and Luyt Inc. they told me that if I wanted a refund I must first make an arrangement with Brooks. I then called Brooks and made an arrangement for them to debit R1000 from my account every month until the debt was settled, the agreement was in place and Brooks reported this to Nedbank and R4000 was refunded to my account with an arrangement that on the 1st January 2025 R1000 was going to be debited out of my account. On January 1st the agreed R1000 was not debited out of my account and the funds were there. I waited and days went by until on the 12th of January I call Brooks to find out why the debit order did not go through. A consulted that I was speaking to tells me that they had informed Nedbank of the agreement, but Nedbank did not action the arrangement as agreed upon, I then ask the consultant to make the arrangements that the debit order go of on the 1st February 2025. The consultant agrees, assures me that this time the debit order will go off as agreed. On the First of February 2025 the debit order went off on my account but instead of R1000 as per agreement, R10 000 was debited from my account. Its at this point that the clown shown begins, I call Nedbank to enquire about this, Nedbank tells me that I should call brooks because the account was handed over to them. I call brooks Brooks they tell me that they have inform Nedbank of the arrangements and Nedbank debited the money outside of the arrangement. I eventually get a call from Brooks from of the 5th February from a consultant by the name of Kulani kubaye and subsequently and email from her manager Philip Sithole telling me that I need to provide a pay slip, back account statement and income and expenditure statement. On the 6th February I provided the document but my payslip was encrypted so on the 10th after following up with Kulani I provided the all documents with no encryption. After following up with Brooks the on the 12th February I was told that they had summited everything to Nedbank and they would give me feedback once they hear from Nedbank, after a few day I call Nedbank to see if I can get some feedback, the consulted tells me that the matter is still being investigated and the end of the investigation period will be on the 20th February. After the investigation I would get feedback, that did not happen and I called on the 24th to follow up and the consultant that was speaking to me told me that he can arrange a refund for me but because I own the bank and I had not made an arrangement they will only refund me 40% on my money. I told the consultant that I have made an arrangement from December with Brooks and Nedbank and that refunding me 40% was not acceptable, I asked him to escalate the matter and he informed me that I will shortly her from his manager which has not happened yet. I then sent an email on the 25th February to Philip Sithole and kulani at Brooks to request the feedback that they promised, I receive an email from them on the 26th February to saying that they are still waiting on Nedbank to give them feedback. In my view Nedbank is ruining a 12 year old relationship it has with me, I will take my money elsewhere and will never do business with Nedbank ever again if they don’t resolve this as soon as possible.
