Nedbank allowed triple debit on my account and not resolving it.
A purchase made in September from Checkers Boksburg (paid in September) went off my account again on the 12th of October. If I did not do a recon on my account daily I would not have known that this amount went off as it is not showing on any statement, just reduced my available balance. Contacted Checkers, they emailed a letter of authority to Nedbank to try and resolve but when I followed up with Nedbank and had to prove transaction by transaction that my balance is incorrect (did not trust me) realized that the amount was put through for a 3rd time. I spoke to 20 different people trying to resolve this, was even put through to a department that they knew was closed for the day. Apparently I am a Platinum account holder, don’t know what this means apart from “I can’t help you, you need to speak to a different Department “. I have been with the bank for over 30 years and this is what they do. Then they want you to complete and sign a form stating that depending on the incident it may cost you R150 in fees, by signing that document Nedbank can say that this is one of those incidents that will be charged. Same thing happened to my daughter (3 times now) and they wanted R350 to find a R500 amount that was returned to her account, she did not have the money to do so at the time but can no longer follow up as it is past 30 days, not sure if that is their end goal. And what happens to that money? We were a family of Nedbank account holders but Nedbank is clearly not concerned with keeping their clients, they have lost three young professionals and one long standing account holder. My apologies to some of the people I spoke to, I really lost it when I heard the amount went off again as I cannot afford it and unfortunately you had to deal with me. Some of you need a bit of training on how to deal with frustrated customers because you don’t know how. Only one of the 20 people I spoke to were able to calm me, this after I held on for 10 minutes when transferred to a department they knew were closed. And I did not take down names, I still believe in good and that people will do what they are paid to do, but no longer trust Nedbank. And best part after all of this is that my Amex card was blocked, did not ask anyone to do that.
