Nedbank
Many years ago my wife was offered a American Express credit card. However we found that if we ate in a restaurant, put petrol in the vehicles or tried to pay for groceries no one would accept it. This to us was a bummer but what we did was withdraw cash from a Atm machine and pay them cash. We have used this card for a few years this way and when we received the statement i would do a transfer via internet banking or cash deposits for the amount owing. Eventually we started receiving calls from their call centre stating what needed to be paid. So today i would make a payment of R7000.00 and tomorrow we would get a call again stating that we were behind in payments. We then asked for a document of all the transactions, which was emailed to us. This is where we found a serious shopping spree that was going on with the credit card. We have never used the card for online shopping and in all the time of us having the card we have never received a sms to ask us to say it was us using the credit card for online shopping. We immediately reported this to nedbank and had the card cut up. This did not help as the shopping spree went on still with no messages comming to our phones. We have a absa credit card and if we pay any purchase we receive a message to confirm that it was us. I have added all the withdrawals from the atms and all the payments made to Nedbank and it far exceeds what we have spent and paid back. We are both pensioners, me receiving a military pension and my wife a state pension. Nedbank is now threatening legal action, we had a insurance for the card from beginning and dont understand why we would need to pay insurance for a credit card that is not covering those types of liability. Why did you not sms us when someone was buying on line, there were days where they were shopping from morning to night and they were turned down, even then we never received a sms or message from them. Our credit card gave us a R30000.00 credit and whoever's did the online shopping took it to R550000.00. How is it possible that you never let us know you have our telephone numbers? This is disgusting service and you expect us to pay?
