Nedbank *****
Nedbank has frozen my account, is withholding my UIF payment of R12,828, and is ignoring my emails.
I am extremely disappointed with the way Nedbank has handled my situation.
I went into a Nedbank branch to reactivate an account that had previously been handed over. After the account was reactivated, I attempted to access my online banking, only to find that my banking app had been frozen.
I was subsequently told that a SIM swap had been reported through my banking app. I did NOT request or authorise any SIM swap, nor have I authorised any ********** activity on my account.
What makes this particularly serious is that my UIF payment of R12,828 is now frozen and inaccessible to me.
I am the legitimate account holder and I am willing to cooperate fully with any reasonable verification or ***** investigation. What I cannot accept is having my money withheld without a clear explanation of what has happened or a clear process for resolving the matter.
I have contacted Nedbank in writing by email regarding this matter, yet my emails have been ignored and I have not received a satisfactory response.
This is completely unacceptable.
I have formally requested that Nedbank investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged SIM-swap report, particularly given that the restriction occurred immediately after I attended the branch to reactivate my account.
Nedbank, I am calling on you to take immediate action.
I want a written explanation, a formal investigation into what happened, and a clear resolution regarding my R12,828 UIF payment.
If Nedbank believes there is a legitimate reason to continue restricting my account, then I expect the bank to tell me what information or verification is required from me and what process I must follow to resolve it.
Instead, I have been left without access to my money while my attempts to obtain answers by email have apparently been ignored.
I have now put Nedbank on formal notice that I will escalate this matter through the appropriate complaints, regulatory and legal channels if it is not resolved.
Nedbank, please investigate this matter urgently, respond to my correspondence, and give me access to my legitimate funds.
R12,828 may not be a huge amount to a bank, but it is my money and my UIF payment. I should not have to repeatedly chase a major bank for answers about why I cannot access my own funds.
I am calling on Nedbank to respond publicly to this complaint, contact me urgently, explain what happened, and resolve this matter.
