My wife, Daphney, asked me to write to you on our behalf with respect to her problem with the account. We appreciate your kind help to Daphney tremendously and can’t stress our appreciation to you enough. However, as far as the attitude of the people dealing with the suspension of her account is concerned, we are disgusted by their don’t care approach and have already reported her experience to “Hello Peter”. If they do not lift the restriction on her account by 11 am Ethiopian time (10 am RSA time) today, we will have to book a ticket for her and our four year old little boy to South Africa for 29 December (a date with a still reasonable ticket price) to deal with the matter of her account personally after Christmas. She will at that stage also consult an attorney to open a case against Nedbank and institute a claim for damages and the costs incurred for recovering her money from Nedbank. We do not think that any reasonable person would think it necessary for us to go to such expenses and inconvenience in a matter, where all facts are so easy to prove and obtain and where the bank has our full cooperation. This matter is not only causing us financial harm but is also destroying our plans as a family for this Christmas, to which we had all looked forward a lot. The money in question was transferred to her account from the Stokvel, in which she has been participating for years and which also has an account at Nedbank, which fact would be easy to check for the people dealing with this matter. She was also not given any warning about the account query. If she was not reachable by phone in Ethiopia, they could have gotten in touch via her e-mail, which is known to the bank. The whole approach by them is hostile and non-caring and we are very disappointed by their attitude, which even you do not seem to be able to change.
