Misleading

I app**** to open a savings account online on 08/03/2017. I subsequently received an email from Nedbank stating that the account has been approved and I will be notified when my card is ready to go in to a branch to present my supporting documentation and activate my account ( See Below).

Dear Mr

Thank you for applying online. We have reserved the following account number for you: ********** 503

Please note that your account is not yet active. It will take two to three business days to activate your account, provided that you have given us all the documentation we need.During this time we may contact you for any outstanding information. We will let you know as soon as your card is ready for collection at the branch that you have chosen on your application form.

To ensure a seamless collection process please remember to take the following documentation to with you:
Your valid South African identity document, smart identity card or your passport with a valid permit.
Proof of residence, eg an electricity, water or phone account that is not older than three months.
Inbranch collection process
Sign your account opening documents.
Receive and encode your card with a PIN.
Give us your FICA documents (proof of residence).
Make sure that we activate your online banking profile.
Please note that, if you app**** for an overdraft and/or credit card, these applications are still being processed and approval is subject to terms and conditions. We will let you know if we need anything else and the outcome of the application shortly.

For more information, visit your nearest branch or call us on ***.
Make things happen.

Kind regards
Team Digital.

I phoned the contact center earlier Today to inquire why I haven't been contacted yet and was told that they have no record on their system of my application and that I will have to go into a branch to open my account.

My question is: What is the use of offering on line applications if I have to go into the branch anyway to open, not activate my account.

Maybe I am too low on the food food chain for Nedbank to care?
