Lost cheque

On the 30th of May 2019 I went to Nedbank Welkom to invest an amount of R125 958,00. The woman helping me said the computers were off line and I must go to a teller to pay in the cheque for save keeping overnight. I was told to come back the next day. The next day they could not find the cheque. I got a slip as proof that I paid the cheque to the teller. I was told to come back in the afternoon again. By this time I had lost faith in Nedbank and said to the woman helping me that I wanted my cheque back as I wished to invest in another bank as I did not have faith in this bank and was not happy with the treatment I received. My wife also removed all her savings from this branch. On enquiring when I would get my cheque back I was told to go to Absa from where the cheque originally came and cancel it and have a new cheque written out. I gave instructions to Nedbank not to invest the cheque. Nedbank said the cheque was at their main branch in Kroonstad and would have to lay there for 7 days. Meantime I am losing interest. The people at Absa bank said that they could not issue me with a new cheque as Nedbank had invested the cheque already against my instructions. Until this date today of 6 June 2019 they have not given back my cheque yet. Nedbank says that I should not have asked Absa to cancel the cheque but this was the instructions given to me by the woman at Nedbank. What am I to do as this is unexceptable.

Thank you Stephen Coetzee
