Let down for the last time

I'll list numerically all the problems I have had with Nedbank in the last 24 Hours.

1. I decided to fill my vehicle with fuel last night before the price went up. My first opportunity to do so was at 21:30. Upon swiping my garage card, the transaction was declined due to “limits exceeded”. Knowing this was not the case I phoned Nedbank, who seemingly has only one person working there that time of night to get the problem sorted out. The gentleman which assisted me, Shaylen, advised me that the debit had not yet cleared, even though it went through on the 29th already. I then requested that he clear the debit upon which I was informed that I can only phone through to request that it be done on 7:30 this morning. I ended up having to leave my cellophane, valued at about R11 000 at the service station as security due to Nedbank being unable to clear a debit in 5 days, this all for a transaction of a few hundred rand.

2. This morning at 7:30 I phoned to have the problem sorted only to be told that they (the card collections division) open at 8:00 and not 7:30 as previously advised. Frustrating me even further.

3. At 8:00 when I phoned for the 3rd time for this problem, after being on hold for 10 minutes, the call gets cut, who cares anyways, airtime does fall from the sky after all.

4. On the 4th call, eventually I get through to someone who starts assisting me but keeps quiet halfway through the call. It is at this point that I get a warning that I have only one minute’s worth of airtime remaining, meaning that I had spent the equivalent of R135 worth of airtime talking to Nedbank and my problem had still not been resolved. I then cut the call and decided to rather phone from a landline.

5. Finally !!! On the 5th call to Nedbank I was assisted by a kind gentleman named Zane, who promptly assisted me in resolving my issue.

I am horrified in the time and the amount of calls I had to make to get this one little issue resolved. I just hope the service station still has my phone when I go to collect it this afternoon and that they hadn't sold it for lunch money. The service from Nedbank recently has gone down the drain, from the holding times to the slowness of the staff and processes I am genuinely considering switching to another bank altogether, as friends and family with other banks are starting to go “I told you so”. Come on Nedbank, never in the past have I struggled so much with you, gone are the days where you were prompt and professional.
